The thing that looks like a steering wheel is in fact a starter?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1906 Archdeacon commissioned a propeller-driven motorcycle, the\u00a0<em>A\u00e9romotocyclette Anzani<\/em>, which achieved a timed speed of 79.5 kilometres per hour at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ach%C3%A8res-la-For%C3%AAt\">Ach\u00e8res-la-For\u00eat<\/a>.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ernest_Archdeacon#cite_note-La_Vie_418-18\">[18]<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ernest_Archdeacon#cite_note-Collectif-19\">[19]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0This\u00a0<em>a\u00e9romotocyclette<\/em>, based on a &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Buchet\">Buchet<\/a>&#8216; motorcycle,<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ernest_Archdeacon#cite_note-Oze-20\">[20]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0was equipped with a 6-horsepower\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Anzani\">Anzani<\/a>\u00a0engine driving a propeller mounted on a 1.5\u00a0m (4.9\u00a0ft) steel tube.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ernest_Archdeacon#cite_note-Collectif-19\">[19]<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ernest_Archdeacon#cite_note-La_Vie_418-18\">[18]<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ernest_Archdeacon#cite_note-Oze-20\">[20]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0There is no evidence that he applied for a patent.
